Spring in Holland is here at last. The world is going a bit crazier than usual now that President Trump is in charge of the fate of America. Honestly, I am delighted NOT to live in New York or anywhere else in the USA anymore. Still feeling homesick for Toronto, Canada which used to be my favorite city many years ago. And the young and charming president Trudeau is my all time favorite darling sexy politician: handsome and debonair.
Recently I met online my favorite girlfriend A. from Toronto. I had not been in touch with her for the last 40 years!!
No wonder I love to meet her again, especially as she barely has changed since the time we lived in Toronto. Even my man Philip would love to go over there and meet some of my old pals who all reside in or near Toronto and of course we would love to travel around.
I would, however, be in for a shock, as I have been told hat this once quite tranquil and pittoresk "Garden City Toronto" has become totally Manhattanized with skyscrapers and shopping malls galore and exorbitant prices, specially for real estate.
The one loose artistic stone rock in the middle of what used to be called Yorkville is still there, but all other quaint parks have been demolished and replaced by enormous office buildings.
Now back to Amsterdam. Still overly full with happy but also often noisy and most of all drunk tourists which we have to love as it keeps the Bed and Breakfast filled. However, Amsterdam is quickly becoming almost impossible to drive around by car as half the city is VERBOTEN TERRITORY for four wheelers. Even bicycles are parked every which where to the great dismay of the pedestrians and police.
So, this is not a newsletter but just a note about what's going on in my never dull life in Amsterdam!!!
Don't forget to visit us at http://www.xavierahollander.com/happy-sleeper.html in spring when all flowers are in bloom and I recommend you all to visit the colorful KEUKENHOF.
Love
